Congratulations on helping to bring labor history alive, and connecting it to the present. This is what the Western Workers Labor Heritage Festival is all about, a Bay Area event every MLK weekend (this time January 16-18, 2009) for over 20 years. Bringing together Bay Area artists, performers, and residents in cooperation with community organizations and unions, The Oakland 46ers seek to discover the radical and physical history of our area in an entertaining and meaningful way.
Previous performances include Oakland 1946!, an in-the-streets reenactment of the 1946 Oakland General Strike, and fundraising performances for the East Bay Alliance for a Sustainable Economy featuring Oakland Port workers and West Oakland residents.
Watch this space for information on our next adventure in wild and fun-filled performance, education, action, and dancing in the streets!
