CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS

Are you a worker, a scab, or a passerby? Oakland 1946! is seeking participants!

We need YOU -- actors, citizens, performers, musicians, activists, regular folks -- to take to the streets as part of a site-specific performance project about the 1946 Oakland General Strike. If you can hold a picket sign, carry a tune, dance in the streets, project your voice, or just want to be involved, we want you!

Here's what you need to do:

Show up to our general participant meeting. Ask questions. Make some picket signs, cardboard masks, props, and talk with us about the project. Drink beer. Be craftsy. Help us re-establish a connection between the labor movements of the past and current-day worker and community struggles. Please RSVP to Oakland1946@gmail.com.

First participant meeting:

Saturday, November 8, 11am - 1pm
The Green House
1630-A Woolsey Street
Berkeley, CA 94703

just a block or two from the Ashby BART station

Dress rehearsal:
Date TBA, week of 12/1/08, in the evening in downtown Oakland

Performances:
Friday, December 5, 8pm
Sunday, December 7, 2pm

Latham Square, where Telegraph meets Broadway in downtown Oakland (near 15th Street), and where it all happened more than 62 years ago....

Questions? Write to Oakland1946@gmail.com.
